Tear trough dermal filler treatment is something I perform regularly. It is quite a talked about aesthetic procedure but often causes some confusion. People are often unsure of what the treatment entails and what conditions it is suitable to treat. The tear trough is a concave deformity of the area under the eye. It is an area of complicated anatomy and must be approached with care. The structures within it are fragile and the area must be treated gently and conservatively.
Tear trough rejuvenation with dermal filler aims to reduce volume loss under the eyes. If you have excessive crepe skin, herniated fat pads under the eyes or are prone to very puffy eyes then you may not be a candidate for tear trough filler. Another treatment or maybe surgery would be the best option for you. It is also important that you discuss with your practitioner exactly which filler they may be using to treat your tear trough.
I personally only ever use Redensity 2 by Teoxane in this area. This filler has been specially formulated and is FDA approved for use under the eyes. It is designed to attract less water than some other filers. The under eye area can be prone to puffiness in some people and a hydrophilic filler could cause problems.
Redensity 2 also contains a cocktail of amino acids and antioxidants. This I have noticed improves the skin quality under the eyes, over time, thus helping to improve dark circles under the eyes.
