Wrinkle Relaxing Injections

See Rachel’s Botox Treatment Video HERE!

One of your skin’s first signs of ageing is the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that are most noticeable when you’re laughing or frowning, but can still be visible when your face is relaxed. You may notice that you have crows’ feet or laughter lines around your eyes when you smile, or horizontal brow lines that make you look like you’re constantly frowning. These ‘expressive’ lines are caused by the repeated contraction of the muscles below your skin.

It is possible to improve the appearance of expressive lines and wrinkles. Botox and Azzalure are popular and effective solutions that can help to rejuvenate your appearance and slow down the speed at which new expressive lines develop.

Wrinkle relaxing injections treatment areas

Wrinkle reducing injections are ideal for treating the following areas and issues:

  • Horizontal brow lines: Lines that run across your forehead
  • Glabella/frown lines: The vertical lines between your eyebrows that can make you look a bit cross or confused
  • Eyebrow lift: It’s possible to subtly lift your eyebrows to open up the eye area
  • Bunny lines: Those small horizontal lines at the top of your nose
  • Crows’ feet/Laughter lines: Lines that fan out from the corner of your eyes and are most noticeable when you smile
  • Gummy smile: When a large portion of your gums are visible because of a high lip line
  • Horizontal neck lines: These lines can age your appearance
  • Platysmal bands: Vertical lines that can give your neck a wiry, chorded appearance
  • Sad mouth: Over time, the effects of skin ageing can pull down the corners of the mouth to make you look unhappy, even when you’re relaxed

Hyperhidrosis/Excessive sweating

If you suffer from excessive sweating – known as ‘hyperhidrosis’ – in the underarm area, nerve blocking injections can be an effective treatment option, offering relief from this debilitating condition for up to six months. Although this is just one of several treatment approaches, the results can be life-changing for some hyperhidrosis sufferers.

Wrinkle relaxing injections FAQs

How do wrinkle reducing injections work?

Expressive lines and wrinkles, such as laughter or frown lines, are caused by the repeated contractions and movement of your facial muscles, a lot like a piece of paper being repeatedly folded in the same places. Wrinkle reducing injections work by temporarily blocking the signals sent via your nerve endings from telling specific muscles to contract, which essentially stops the skin from creasing. If you imagine your post-treatment skin as a piece of paper that’s been flattened out, the existing lines will be visibly reduced and new lines are less likely to appear.

Are wrinkle reducing injections safe?

The wrinkle reducing injection treatments that we offer are only available on prescription, which is why you won’t find us talking about brand names here on our website or on any promotional marketing materials for Aesthetic Nursing Services.

These products are FDA-approved for certain medical cosmetic uses and supported by extensive clinical studies and a well-established safety record. Wrinkle reducing injections should only be administered by or under the guidance of a suitably qualified medical professional to minimise the potential side effects.

What are the side effects?

The most common side effects of wrinkle reducing injections are temporary bleeding, mild swelling, redness or bruising at the injection site.

Less frequently, people experience a mild headache post-treatment and, very rarely, double vision.

In some cases, especially when the eye or forehead area has been treated, there have been reports of a slight drooping of the upper eyelid. This is associated with less than one percent of patients in the hands of experienced practitioners, and typically takes two to ten weeks to resolve. It is possible to use a special eye drop to help speed up the recovery from this side effect.

Some people experience a slight raising of the eyebrow after their treatment. For those who don’t like this outcome, it’s possible to correct the positioning with a further anti-ageing injectable treatment.

This treatment option is popular because the results of the treatment are temporary and any unwanted effects usually disappear within a three-month period.

Some people have claimed that these injections cause more wrinkles to appear, but there is no scientific evidence to support this. If you decide not to have a top-up treatment, it’s important to remember that your treated wrinkles will return.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

Is there anything I should do before I come in for the treatment?

Before you decide whether this is the right treatment for you, we will ask you to come into Aesthetic Nursing Services for a no-obligation consultation. During this initial appointment, we will take a full medical history and spend time with you getting to know you and how you feel about specific aspects of your appearance. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and for us to make sure that you understand all of your treatment options and have realistic expectations for the outcomes.

DURING YOUR TREATMENT

What happens during a treatment with wrinkle reducing injections?

When you come into the clinic for wrinkle reducing injections, we will thoroughly clean your skin. If you are worried about how the injections will feel, we can apply a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the treatment area. To reassure you, most people find wrinkle reducing injections surprisingly comfortable because we use tiny needles and small amounts of the product. These injections are most commonly described as feeling a bit like an insect bite.

At this point, we will use micro-needles and disposable, one-use only syringes to inject small amounts of the product into several points in the treatment area. We may suggest that you only have a single area treated initially to see how you respond to the injections.

The treatment should only take 15-30 minutes, and most people find that they are able to carry straight on with their daily routine without any recovery time. If you feel your face looks a bit bruised, you may want to take things easy and relax until the bruising subsides.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

How long will the results last?

It can take up to two weeks before you can fully notice the results of this treatment, so it’s important to be patient. Our aim isn’t to freeze your facial expressions altogether – instead, we are really targeted in our approach, so that you retain your natural expressiveness even though your expressive lines are visibly reduced.

How long the results last will depend on the area treated, the dose used, and how your body responds to the treatment. Most people find that they need top-up treatments every three to six months to maintain and even improve upon the initial outcomes.

What happens after the treatment?

When you have a treatment at Aesthetic Nursing Services, we will give you detailed aftercare instructions to help you enjoy a complication-free recovery and the best outcomes.

With wrinkle reducing injections, we will typically advise you to:

  • Actively contract and use the muscles in the treatment area with exaggerated smiling and frowning as evidence suggests that this speeds up the absorption of the product
  • Avoid exercise
  • Avoid massaging or rubbing the treatment area for several hours post-treatment
  • Contact us immediately if you notice any drooping of the eyelid, an unwanted change to your eyebrow position, or any signs of infection
  • Contact us after 14 days if you feel that you can’t see any visible improvement

We will usually ask you to come back to the clinic after two weeks so that we can check the outcomes of your treatment, and make sure that you and we are happy with how everything went.

Where is your clinic?

Our clinic is based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. We have a strong customer base and many of our customers travel to us from Beaconsfield, Marlow, Maidenhead, Chalfont and Amersham as well as other areas across the South-East.
